Creativity is an essential skill for the 21st Century that is innate in all people and can be nurtured. We constantly need new and better ideas for almost every aspect of our professional and personal lives. The goal of this course is to help you recognize, develop and act upon the creativity that you already possess. We will accomplish this using three methods: b aware, b inspired, and b creative. Upon completion of this course participants will: Recognize the inherent creativity in yourself and others. Identify characteristics of a creative person that relate to yourself. Develop creative problem solving skills using the basic elements of the creative process. Examine qualities of a creative environment in real world settings. Evaluate an idea using the creative product criteria.

<p>Dr. Cyndi Burnett is an Associate Professor at the International Center for Studies in Creativity at SUNY Buffalo State. She implements the Center’s efforts to “ignite creativity around the world,” and her work includes projects such as: integrating creative thinking into the classroom and the home. She is the co-author of two books- <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0996477527?keywords=weaving%20creativity&qid=1445642048&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1">Weaving Creativity into Every Strand of Your Curriculum</a> and My Sandwich is a Spaceship: Creative Thinking for Parents and Young Children</p> <p>Prior to becoming an academic, Dr. Burnett was a professional actress. Having performed in many stage productions, she realized that she had developed a passionate interest in the underlying processes involved in creation. This realization led to her studying creativity at the ICSC and ultimately gaining her EdD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from the University of Toronto.</p> <p>She was recently featured in an article in the New York Times titled, <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/09/education/edlife/creativity-becomes-an-academic-discipline.html?_r=0">Creativity Becomes an Academic Discipline</a>.</p>

John is an Associate Professor at the State University of New York College at Buffalo's International Center for Studies in Creativity and a Fulbright Scholar at the Universidad de Bucaramanga, Colombia. <br> <p>John has designed and presented programs on leadership and creativity in 22 countries for organizations such as IBM, Mattel Toys, Quaker Oats, Pfizer, British Home Office, National Science Foundation, NASA, and The Ohio State University. His expertise is in organizational creativity, developing online 3D creativity courses and Appreciative Inquiry, exploring new worlds of what works versus what doesn’t. He has published numerous articles in Latin American business journals. </p> <p>John was an operations manager for American Airlines in Buffalo, New York. He also held internal consulting positions for American Airlines in the fields of training and development, employee relations, and organizational development for its Miami, Caribbean, and Latin America division. </p> <p>John earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Manchester, England. In recognition for his work as an instructor, he was awarded the Buffalo State College President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. <br></p> <br>
